#8 Mesa T-Birds Look to Fly Higher Than #7 Lackawanna Falcons in Valley of the Sun Bowl

The #8 Mesa Thunderbirds will play host the #7 Lackawanna Falcons from Scranton, Pennsylvania in the Valley of the Sun Bowl at John D. Riggs Stadium at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The Valley of the Sun Bowl is the longest running bowl game in the NJCAA, being played since 1981.

The Thunderbirds come in with an overall record 8-2, being led by one of the top offenses in the country.  Captain of the offense is sophomore quarterback Rathen Ricedorff, who finished the regular season with a NJCAA high in touchdown passes (37), pass attempts (380), pass completions (245) and pass yards (3291).

For Lackawanna, sophomore quarterback David Pindell leds the Falcons, earning NJCAA offensive player of the week.  Pindell had 20 completions on 34 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns.  Pindell led the Falcons to a 10-0 season, playing in the Northeast Football Conference.
