Football falls to New Mexico Military, 35-28

Roswell, NM- Battling not only a winning team on their home field but also battling terrible weather conditions that delayed the game a couple times, the Mesa Thunderbirds just couldn't overcome and fell to the New Mexico Military Institute, 35-28.

Mesa did get on the board first but the Broncos put the next 20 points on the board right before halftime.  Aaron Molina(Fr., Albuqerque, NM, Valley High) then caught a four yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 20-14.

Mesa did have an opportunity to score right before half but a costly fumble inside their redzone ended any chance of tying the game or maybe even taking the lead.

Just after half, a strong storm cell hovered right over top of the field causing a lot of rain and lightning, prompting the officials to delay the game for around two hours.

After coming back on the field, Mesa took the lead once in the fourth quarter, 28-27 but the Broncos found the endzone one last time to seal the 35-28 victory.

The T-Birds are now 2-4 on the season and head into a bye week before making another long road trip down to Yuma to face Arizona Western October 17th.
