Football lands former PAC 12 QB
MESA, AZ - MCC football coach Ryan Felker may have solved the problem of how to replace graduating quarterback Blake Kemp (So., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.) who has signed with East Carolina after a record-setting season in Mesa, with a former Washington State quarterback.
Austin Apodaca, a 6-3, 200-pounder from Silver Creek H.S. in Longmont, Colo., has decided to transfer to Mesa after spending one year as a red-shirt, and playing sparingly last year for the Cougars.
Apodaca was quoted on the website JCGridiron.com that he felt the T-Birds had a good program and coaching staff and that he thought the players were a good bunch of guys.
The website said that Mesa was starting to develop a good reputation as a destination spot.
Apodaca wants to use his year with the T-Birds to earn a spot back in Division I
