11 Run 3rd Inning Propels #5 Mesa Baseball to 13-3 Win Over CGCC, Split 2-Game Series

Mesa, AZ - The #5 Mesa Thunderbirds took home a 13-3 victory Wednesday afternoon  when they defeated the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes.  The Coyotes bested the T-Birds on their home turf Tuesday afternoon, 10-3, to split the two game series.

Mesa scored one in the first inning then exploded for an 11 run output, recording nine hits, and drawing three walks.  Josh Leslie started the inning with a single and batted a second time in the frame, doubling to center field, recording a RBI on the play.  

In total, the T-Birds collected 15 hits on the day while drawing six base on balls.

On the mound, Connor Coerper earned his 4th win of the season, throwing 6 innings, allowing five hits, three runs, three earned, striking out six while allowing just one walk.  Jonathon Weiss finished the final frame for Mesa, allowing just one hit.

Mesa is now 16-5 overall and 5-5 in conference play.  The T-Birds will play a two game series this weekend with Paradise Valley, Friday at Paradise Valley at 3 pm then at home on Saturday beginning at noon.
