Rallying for 6 Runs in the 9th, #17 Mesa Baseball Wins at CGCC, 10-7

Gilbert, AZ - Down 7-4 heading into the final inning, Mesa rallied for six runs, three of which came on back-to-back homeruns, to beat the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes, 10-7.

It was Connor Denning and Paul Steffensen who ignited the big inning, with Denning hitting a two-run homer to right center which was followed by a towering solo homer by Steffensen.  With those three runs, Mesa had tied the game at seven.  Two batters later, Taylor Darden would reach base by way of the walk followed by a Josh Leslie single.  Pinch-hitter Cade Maestas then roped a triple to the right center field gap, clearing the bases and giving back Mesa the lead, 9-7.  Brian So would then hit a sacrifice fly to score Maestas, tallying Mesa's 10th and final run.

Cameron Doherty finished the final 1.1 innings for Mesa, solidifying the win for the T-Birds.  Starting pitcher Carter Robinson pitched seven innings, allowed just two hits, no runs, struck out 11 while walking three.

With the win, Mesa is now 29-15 on the season and 13-14 in conference play.  The Birds and Coyotes will be right back in action tomorrow at MCC, beginning at 3 pm.
