Mesa, AZ - The #15 Mesa Thunderbirds used two six-run innings to defeat the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack Sunday afternoon, 12-4.
After scoring two runs in the second inning, Mesa loaded the bases with two outs. That's when Jace DeGrange drove a ball to right center field where neither Wolfpack defender could collect the ball fast enough to get the speedy DeGrange out, accounting for Mesa's first grand slam of the season.
Mesa took a 6-1 advantage after the first inning. The T-Birds went cold with the bat through innings 2-6 but put another six spot on the board in the bottom of the seventh as Mesa sent 11 batters to the plate.
The T-Birds are now 14-2 overall. They will play at Paradise Valley on Tuesday afternoon at 3 pm then back home on Wednesday afternoon at 3 pm against Paradise Valley.
