3-2 Victory for #12 Mesa Baseball at #15 Phoenix College, #1 Seed on the Line in Season Finale

Phoenix, AZ - On a day more windy than a day at Wrigley Field, the #12 Mesa Thunderbirds defeated the #15 Phoenix College Bears, 3-2.  The win gives Mesa their 40th victory of the season, the fifth time since 2012 Mesa has eclipsed the 40 win mark.

The win also forces a season finale shootout for the #1 spot in the ACCAC DII playoffs that begin in one week.

Both the T-Birds and Bears are tied with a 25-14 conference record.  With a win tomorrow and depending on the results of the Cochise College-Central AZ double-header, one team might walk away with not only the #1 seed in the ACCAC DII, but claim kings of the entire ACCAC.

Mesa did what they needed to do Friday afternoon by winning at Phoenix College.  Nick Bonniksen had a solid start on the hill, going 5.2 innings, allowing just two hits, one run and striking out two.

At the plate, Hunter Bross went 2-4 with a two RBI's while Jared Crockett went 2-5, scoring two runs.

Jake Suddreth came in relief and recorded his 16th save of the season, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing three hits, one run and striking out two.

The season finale will be played tomorrow at Mesa, with a noon first-pitch start.
