Morimoto, Hasler Named 2nd Team All-Americans; Zimmerman Drafted in 7th Round to LA Angels

Mesa's Mitchell Morimoto and Kent Hasler have earned 2nd Team All-American Honors for the 2016 season.

Morimoto, who will play baseball next season at the University of Arizona, had 96 hits on the season with 11 triples, 14 doubles and five homeruns.  He carried a .430 batting average with a .506 on base percentage.

Hasler dazzled on the mound this season for the T-Birds with a 9-1 record with three complete games and pitching 102.1 innings.  He struck out 106 batters while producing a 1.93 ERA.  In his 19 appereances, Hasler only allowed one homerun.  Hasler will attend Louisana Tech next season.

Still talking Mesa baseball success, Jordan Zimmerman, who played on Mesa' s 2014 National Championship team and was the NJCAA World Series Tournament MVP, who transfered to Michigan State, was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball draft on June 7-9.

Zimmerman was the Spartans MVP and offensive player of the year while hitting .374 with a .594 slugging percentage, 37 RBIs, 50 runs, 17 doubles, nine home runs – all team highs.
