MESA, AZ - In its first close game of the season the Mesa baseball team scored an 8-6 win over the Arizona State club team Friday.
The T-Birds scored a run in the fourth inning to break a 5-5 tie and went on to the win.
Drew Lawrence (So., Anthem, AZ/Boulder Creek H.S.) led the offense, going 3-5 with two RBIs and was hit by a pitch. Esteban Martinez (Fr., Oak Forrest, Ill/Saint Rita H.S.) continued his hot hitting, going 2-2 and drawing three walks. Kody Funderburk (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Queen Creek H.S.) was 2-4 with a double.
Mesa hosts the University of Arizona Club team Saturday in a noon doubleheader.
