Morimoto, Carvalho named baseball All-Americans

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Following in a long tradition, the Mesa baseball program had two players named NJCAA Division II All-Americans following the 2015 season.

Mitchell Morimoto (Fr., Issaquah, Wash/Issaquah H.S.) was named to the second team and Tyler Carvalho (So., Lancaster, Calif/Paraclete H.S.) was a third team selection.

Morimoto posted a fabulous freshman season, placing second on the team with a .393 batting average while leading the club in doubles with 21 and triples with seven while ranking second in RBIs with 45. His total in triples tied for eighth best in the nation and the doubles tied for 12th best.

For Carvalho it was a repeat performance. He was selected as a first team All-American a year ago and seemed headed for the same recognition again when an injury cut short his season in early April.

At the team he had a 7-2 record, although the second loss came in the game where he suffered the injury. His ERA of 0.90 ranked third in the country. He struck out  64 and walked only seven in 60 innings.
