Baseball's 19-hit attack leads to 16-6 win over Arizona Christian JV
MESA, AZ - Closing its non-conference season, Mesa routed the Arizona Christian JV, 16-6, Monday.
The T-Birds (33-9) quickly overcame a 3-0 deficit with five runs in the first inning, including a two-run double by Hunter Robson (Fr., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.).
Scoring in each of the first five innings, MCC broke the game open with a six-run fourth and cruised to the win.
Drew Lawrence (Fr., Anthem, AZ/Boulder Creek H.S.) went 4-4 with a pair of RBIs. Robson was 2-3 with a pair of doubles and drove in four.
Mitchell Morimoto (Fr., Issaquah, Wash/Issaquah H.S.) had a 3-3 day with two more doubles to raise his nation-leading total to 19.Logan Etherington (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev/Faith Lutheran H.S.) was also 3-3 with a run driven in.
MCC begins a 12-game run of ACCAC play leading to the Region I playoffs Tuesday, hosting South Mountain at 3:00 p.m.
