Hasler, Mosca combine on 1-hitter in win over Arizona Christian JV, 9-0

MESA, AZ - Kent Hasler (Fr., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.) and Matt Mosca (Fr., Las Vegas, Nev/Cimmaron-Memorial H.S.) combined to throw a one-hit shutout as Mesa blanked the Arizona Christian JV, 9-0, Thursday.

Hasler threw five innings of no-hit ball and struck out six. Mosca went the final four and recorded seven strikeouts.

The Firestorm got their only hit with one out in the eighth on a double by Max Sias, preventing MCC from recording its second no-hitter in less than a week. Tyler Carvalho (So., Lancaster, Calif/Paraclete H.S.) tossed one last Saturday against Cochise.

MCC took control from the beginning, scoring all of its runs in the first five frames.

Brady Bate (Fr., Spanish Fork, Utah/Spanish Fork H.S.) paced the T-Bird offense with a 3-3 day with a double and he scored twice.

Hunter Robson (Fr., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.) was 2-4 with a double and two driven in and Jordan Rose (So., Tremonton, Utah/Bear River H.S.) was 2-3, also with a double and two RBIs.

Mesa will host the Utah State University club team in a single game Friday starting at noon.
