The Pima Community College men's soccer team (6-1-1, 3-1-1 in ACCAC) suffered its first setback of the season on Saturday at Mesa Community College (8-2-1, 3-1-1).
- The No. 1 ranked Aztecs' rally was cut short in the second half as they fell to the No. 20 Thunderbirds 2-1. It was Pima's first loss to Mesa since Sept. 2013
- Cole Wood put Mesa on the scoreboard with a goal in the 18th minute. The Thunderbirds went up 2-0 three minutes later with a goal by Mark Gomez.
- The Aztecs cut the deficit in half when sophomore Nicholas Bianchi (Pinnacle HS) scored off of a pass from sophomore Ernesto Osornio (Ironwood HS) in the 62nd minute.
- Freshman Cristian Sattin finished the match with seven saves.
The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Field on Saturday, Oct. 1 when they host Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
