Aztecs men's tennis falls to No. 9 Mesa

The Pima Community College men's tennis team opened the 2019 season on Tuesday at the West Campus Tennis Courts.

Sophomore Chris McDaniels (Tanque Verde HS) played a close second set but fell to Gonzalo Fernandez 6-1, 7-5 in their No. 1 singles match.
Freshman Oscar Aguilera fell at No. 2 singles to Maxim Kirsch 6-1, 6-1.
Sophomore Beau Boyer (Cibola HS) was shut out in his No. 3 singles match against Yohann Prinsen 6-0, 6-0.
Sophomore Edgar Franco (Cibola HS) fell to Jorge Sala 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Freshman Darin Trejo (St. David HS) lost 6-1, 6-2 in his No. 5 singles match to Corey Pabst.
The Aztecs were forced to forfeit the No. 6 singles match and the No. 3 doubles match. McDaniels and Boyer fell at No. 1 doubles 8-5 to Fernandez and Sala. Aguilera and Franco lost 8-4 to Pabst and Prinsen in No. 2 doubles action.

The Aztecs will host an exhibition match against New Mexico Military Institute on Saturday, Mar. 9. They will get back to regular season and ACCAC conference play on Tuesday, Mar. 19 at Glendale Community College. Check pimaaztecs.com for schedule updates.
