WOMEN’S SOCCER IMPROVES RECORD TO 3-0

The Pumas improved to 3-0 this season with their wins over Mesa and Chandler-Gilbert.

Friday, September 2 – PVCC 6, MCC 2

The Pumas got to an early lead against Mesa on Friday night and held it, defeating the Thunderbirds 6-2.

Harlee Kuntz gave the Pumas the early lead, scoring the first two goals of the game in the 11th and 13th minutes. Justyne Underwood and Jayla Patrick were there with the respective assists. Underwood extended the Pumas lead to 4-0 when she scored two goals in the 33rd and 36th minutes of the game with assists by Patrick and Shayla Mobo. The Thunderbirds scored in the 41st minute of the game to cut the Pumas lead to 4-1 entering the second half of the game.

The second half started just as strong for the Pumas. Patrick (assist Underwood) scored in the 53rd minute. Underwood (assist Kuntz) posted a hat trick just four minutes later in the 57th minute of the game to give the Pumas a 6-1 lead.

Underwood led the Pumas with eight shots and three goals. Goalie Emily Richards had 11 saves in the game while giving up two goals.

Tuesday, September 6 – PVCC 1, CGCC 0

Following their big win against Mesa, the Pumas traveled to Chandler-Gilbert on Tuesday night to take on the Coyotes.

The Pumas and Coyotes played a hard-fought game.  The Pumas were able to capitalize in the 75th minute when Justyne Underwood scored the team's lone goal, securing the Pumas 1-0 victory. Underwood's goal was assisted by Harlee Kuntz and Jayla Patrick.

The Pumas open up conference play on Saturday, September 10 when they take on Scottsdale at 8:00pm at SCC.
