Men's and Women's Basketball Falter at Arizona Western

Yuma, AZ- The T-Birds men's and women's basketball teams had another tough road trip as the men were defeated 79-60 and the women were defeated 75-66.

The women fell behind early and it was an uphill battle the rest of the way.  The Matadors went up 21-11 at the end of the first quarter and were up 36-24 at halftime.

The Matadors connected on eight three pointers in the first half and connected on 14 total three's on the game.  Briana Clah scored 20 points for Mesa while Janessa Aukward scored 17 points.

The women's basketball team will be on the road again this Saturday at Phoenix College.

For the men, they also started off slow, with the Matadors taking a 41-18 lead at one point.  Mesa shot just four of 27 from three for the game and shot 23 for 67 total from the field.  

Mesa's biggest run came in the second half when they went on an 18-3 run but with the lead the Matadors had built, Mesa just couldn't overcome.

Obi Megwa and Kyle Bingham both scored 17 points for Mesa.

Mesa will be on the road this Saturday at Phoenix College.
