Mesa signs 2016 Golf Class

The nationally ranked men's and women's golf teams continue to recruit strong local talent by signing five men and two women from valley high schools.
Gage Grimes(Apache Junction H.S.) Jake Guess(Red Mountain H.S.), Brad Pottle(Perry H.S.), Jacob Aboud(Perry H.S.) and Ryan Porter(Highland H.S., not pictured) will be addidtions to a strong returning sophomore class for the 2016-17 year.
"Grimes and Guess have been playing at an extremely high level ever since they were freshman in high school.  I'm expecting strong play and leadership from them," said Head Coach John Guerrero.
"Pottle and Aboud both hail from Perry H.S. which is historically a top program in the state.  I've been lucky to have Perry graduates play for me in the past which has helped us to our success as of late.  I'm expecting the same out of these two young men," said Coach Guerrero.
Ryan Porter will be joining the 2016 class in June when he returns from his church mission.  The men's golf team finished 2nd in the region last year and was runner up at the 2014 NJCAA's.
On the ladies side, Megan Fusak(Desert Vista H.S.) and Cheyanne Stewart(Dobson H.S.) will join a women's golf program that just finished 3rd at the 2015 NJCAA National Championships.
"I'm excited for Megan to join our squad.  She sets big goals for herself and possesses year of JGAA Tournament experience where she has many top finishes," said Coach Guerrero.
Cheyanne is extremely athletic and has a tremendous work ethic.  She is improving at an incredible rate and has a very high ceiling for her collegiate future."
This is Coach John Guerrero's 16th women's recruiting class and 13th men's recruiting class during his tenure.
