Mesa athletes hold "Friday Night Lights" with local youth

Mesa, AZ - A total of 113 Mesa student-athletes and coaches had their own "Friday Night Lights" Nov. 16, but in this case it was to benefit local youth.

Members of the MCC football, men's and women's soccer, and softball teams got together at John D. Riggs Stadium with members of local 2nd through 8th grade youth sports programs.

It was a night of instruction in the various sports with the T-Bird athletes sharing their knowledge with the youngsters.

"I am so proud of the student-athletes and coaches that volunteer their valuable time for community service events,"says Athletic Director John Mulhern.  "Friday Night Lights is a great way for MCC athletics to reach out to the community and support the City of Mesa youth".

Mesa athletes perform a wide variety of community service work every year to benefit local residents.
