Stellmach signs to run at Texas A&M Corpus Christi
Mesa, AZ – Mesa distance running star Tristan Stellmach has signed a full scholarship to attend Texas A&M-Corpus Christi next year.
The sophomore from Queen Creek, AZ and Queen Creek H.S., has already earned All-American honors in cross country last fall and is qualified in four events at next week's NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
Said MCC head cross country coach Daniel Pescador, "I couldn't be more proud and excited for Tristan. He has really turned the page in his training and level of competing this year. He has been a driving force to our success and big reason we won back to back track region championships. I know he will continue to do great things at the Division I level.
He currently ranks ninth in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 9:32.81; 17th in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:54.44; 20th in the 1500 meters in 3:59.23 and 39th in the 10,000 meters with a 32:51.53 clocking.
The national championship meet will be held May 16-18 in Hobbs, N.M.
