Men's Finish 2nd, Women 3rd at George Kyte Invitational

The men's and women's cross country team opened their season at the George Kyte Invitational at Buffalo Park, hosted by Northern Arizona.

The men started the day, and ran to a 2nd place team finish in the open division.  The men's team was led by freshman Tristan Stellmach who ran to a place finish.  "I thought Tristan ran a good race, he got out with the top group and just maintained his place."  Today's race was a very loaded and competitive field that included a number of division 1 Universities.

The women followed the men's race by placing 3rd in their division as well.  The women were paced by Emilie, Reemstma, who ran to place finish.

"Emilie ran a very smart race,  being patient at the start and continually moving up," said Head Coach Daniel Pescador, "when you race at the 7000ft altitude,  that's what you need to do."

"I think both teams ran exceptionally well given what we were faced with in the competition and the altitude. I don't think we could have asked for a better season opening performance. the season looks very promising," said Pescador.

The cross country teams will have 2 weeks off before traveling to Riverside, CA.
