Cross Country Races to Runner-Up Finishes for Both Men and Women

Coolidge, AZ - The men's and women's team competed in the ACCAC Championships today, and had exceptional finish as both teams were Runner-Up to Conference Champion Central Arizona.

The women started the day, as they were again led by Allyson Girard, who ran to an All-Conference and 2nd place finish with a time of 18:36.

"I thought Allyson had a good day, for being a middle of a hard training block she competed well and ran a pretty solid 5k time that is not far off her personal best," said head cross country coach Daniel Pescador.

Adeline Montgomery also ran to an All Conference finish by finishing in 7th place with a time of 19:22.  The Thunderbirds finished with 5 All Conference Runners, as Hillary Ogutu, Savanna Bradshaw, and Ashlyn Didomenico also finished with All-Conference runners in 12th, 17th, and 20th place.

The men followed the girls performance with a Runner-Up finish of their own.

"I thought the men ran a very smart and couragous race. Our pack started in the very back and they moved as a group.  They believed in themselves and each other that they would move up the entire race," said Pescador.

Zach Harrach and Carlin Resendez led the way with top 10 performances, finishing in 5th and 9th respectivley.

Overall the Thunderbirs had 3 All-Conference runners, with Chris McCoy gaining All-Conference in 18th Place to join Zach and Carlin.

The Thunderbirds will be off the following weekend, as they prep to how the Mesa XC Classic on October 8th.
