No. 15 Mesa Volleyball capped off a gauntlet of matches on Wednesday night as they fell to Pima, 3-2.

The Lady T-Birds faced their most grueling stretch of the season starting last Tuesday as they made the long trip to Thatcher, AZ to take on DI opponent and nationally ranked Eastern Arizona College.

The T-Birds had not won a match against the Gila Monsters in nearly six years as their last victory against EAC was on Oct. 12, 2018. Mesa would rewrite history as they took their never back down attitude to Eastern Arizona and came out on top, 3-1.

The following night MCC hit the road again to take on Phoenix College who the T-Birds dominated, winning in straight sets.

On Saturday morning MCC stumbled for the first time all season as they suffered their first loss at the hands of DI opponent, Arizona Western College, 3-1. The T-Birds would bounce back against the College of Southern Nevada later that same day as they beat the Coyotes in straight sets.

There was little time to rest for Mesa as they faced three of the more important matches during this stretch of matches, hosting Chandler-Gilbert, No. 18 Glendale, and traveling to Pima all on consecutive days.

Against CGCC the T-Birds dug themselves into a two set hole, but would claw their way back into the match, winning sets three and four before running out of gas in the fifth and final set and falling, 3-2.

Mesa again showed they're able to bounce back after a loss the next day as they welcomed No. 18 Glendale to Theo Heap Gymnasium and took down the Gauchos with relative ease, 3-1.

In their final match of the stretch the T-Birds took a trip down to Tucson, AZ to take on the Aztecs, a team that Mesa has always been competitive with in the past. It seemed as though Mesa was going to cruise to a victory as they took a two set to none lead over Pima.

However, whether it was Mesa's legs finally catching up to them after so much time on the court in the previous days, the Aztecs will not go down without a fight, or a mixture of both, the T-Birds would lose the final three sets and fall, 3-2.

MCC will enjoy a much needed break as they will rest and recover before their next match against No. 6 Scottsdale and South Mountain next Wednesday and Thursday. Mesa claimed victories against both teams earlier this season, but both matches were extremely competitive going to a fifth set to decide a winner.
