Gilbert, AZ - The #14 Mesa Thunderbirds defeated the Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes Wednesday night in four sets, 25-12, 22-25, 27-25, 25-19.
The T-Birds came out with a passion, dominating set one from beginning to end. Just shortly after set two began, Chandler-Gilbert had seized that momentum and rallied off a three point victory to tie the match at 1-1.
Points and momentum continued in favor of the Coyotes to begin the third set but the T-Birds collected themselves and earned a hard fought two point win to take a 2-1 lead. Set four then belong to Mesa, as the T-Birds completed the victory to win the match, 3-1.
Mesa moves to 13-5 overall on the season and 4-4 in conference play. The T-Birds will host the Pima Aztecs this coming Friday at 7 pm.
