Volleyball Wins Three out of Four Matches at Scottsdale Invite

Scottsdale, AZ- It was a very successful weekend for the Mesa Thunderbirds volleyball team at the Scottsdale Invite at Scottsdale CC as they won three out of the four matches they played.

On Friday, they played conference opponent, the South Mountain Cougars.  They lost in four sets, 17-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-27.

Later Friday night, they had a rematch against Benedictine U.-Mesa JV, the team who beat Mesa at Theo Heap Gym on Wednesday night in four sets.  Mesa this time came out on top with a four set victory, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 29-27.

Saturday, Mesa's first match was against Central Wyoming. Mesa again won in four sets, 25-23, 25-21, 14-25, 25-22.

The T-Birds finished up the weekend with a victory over Victoria College in three straight sets, 25-23, 25-18, 25-18.

"Everyone contributed to our success," said Mesa Head Coach Megan Taylor, "we battled in every match."

Mesa is now 6-3 on the season, 3-2 in the ACCAC.  The T-Birds will be at home for two matches next week on Wednesday and Friday against South Mountain and Phoenix College, both matches starting at 7 p.m.
