Women's tennis falls to four-year Ottawa (AZ) in season opener, 8-1

SURPRISE, AZ – The Mesa women's tennis team opened its spring season Saturday with a tough assignment, losing to four-year Ottawa (AZ), 8-1.

  MCC got its lone win from Sala Yoshida at No. 2 singles. She defeated Hanna Papaco, 6-1, 6-1.

  Ottawa had two former T-Bird players in the match. Michelle Fournier and Julia Ortiz. Ortiz won at No. 1 singles and Fournier at No. 4.

  Mesa will next host San Diego Mesa on Feb. 3 at noon.
