Women's tennis wins ninth straight, blanks Glendale, 9-0
Glendale, AZ – The Mesa women's tennis team captured its ninth straight win Thursday with a 9-0 blanking of Glendale in ACCAC action. The T-Birds are now 9-3 and 4-0 in conference play.
"Both of our teams played well today in some windy conditions," said head coach Adam Cohen, referring also to the MCC men who won, 8-1. "We were able to stay focused and get the job done. I am happy with our performances."
MCC scored three 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles play. Yolanda Carlon, ranked No. 43 in the nation, blanked A. Morales at No. 3, Hannah Nelson won by the same score at No, 5 against Yulma Lopez and Michelle Fournier did likewise at No. 6 against Julidany Ortega.
Carlon and Julia Ortiz topped G. Mercado and Morales, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles and Fournier and Nelson teamed for an 8-0 win over Lopez and Ortega at No. 3.
Mesa will visit Paradise Valley Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
