No. 8 Mesa women's tennis downs New Mexico Military, 8-1
Mesa, AZ – The No. 8 Mesa women's tennis team scored an 8-1 non-conference victory over a short-handed New Mexico Military team Saturday.
"NMMI has improved from last year," said MCC head coach Adam Cohen. "I was really proud of our team today for the most part. We had a couple of metal lapses which might have cost us the match at the #1 doubles spot, but it could be a good learning tool if our women choose to use it as such."
Khanh Huynh, ranked No. 13 in the nation, won at No. 1 singles 6-4, 7-5 over Francica Nyarko and No. 32 Naa Ankrah was a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 winner over Mikayla Lopez at No. 2.
The MCC women will host Westmont College, of California, Friday at 6:00 a.m.
