Men's and Women's Tennis Dominate Day 1 of Regionals

MESA, AZ – Picking up where they left off from the regular season, the Mesa men's and women's tennis teams, which blazed through the ACCAC schedule without losing even a single individual match, completely dominated the first day of Region I championship play.  

Both teams blitzed through the first round losing only three games, of a possible 72 in singles play.  

Playing at the Glendale' Paseo Tennis Club, the MCC women had four players, Khahn Huynh, at No. 2; Naa Ankrah, at No. 4, Hannah Nelson, at No. 5 and Maria Beatriz Garduno, at No. 6, all win their matches, 6-0, 6-0.  

The men, also playing at Glendale' Paseo Tennis Club, did likewise with four 6-0, 6-0 singles wins. Sasha Modica, at No. 1; Shimon Murakami, at No. 4; Max Wightman, at No. 5 and Eduardo Cuoto, at No. 6, all had perfect wins.  

The men also had straight set wins at all three doubles flights.  Both tournaments conclude Wednesday with the winners earning spots in the NJCAA National Championships.
