Men's and Women's Tennis Sweep Pima

MESA, AZ – It was yet another sweep for the Mesa men's and women's tennis teams Thursday as the T-Birds took down Pima, 9-0, in both matches.  

In the women's match, played at MCC, 12th-ranked Mesa defeated the 22nd-ranked Aztecs without 
losing a set as has been the case all season in ACCAC play. The T-Birds are now 14-1 overall with the only loss coming to NCAA Division I New Mexico State, and are 6-0 in conference play.  

Khahn Hunh scored a solid win at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over S. Ruth. Hannah Nelson won at No. 4, 6-3, 6-1 against Stephanie Nickles and Julia Ortiz defeated Fernanda Miller, 6-2, 6-2.  

Meanwhile, MCC's fifth-ranked men were easy, 9-0, winners in a match played in Tucson.  

Two T-Birds, Shimon Murakami at No. 4 singles, and Max Wightman, at No. 5, both were victorious, 6-0, 6-0, while three others, Linus Holthey at No. 2, David Felix at No 3 and Eduardo Conto at No. 6 all won, 6-1, 6-1.  

Mesa is now 10-1, suffering a loss to only NCAA Division II Western New Mexico. They are 5-0 in 
conference action.  

Both teams are travelling to San Diego Saturday to take on NCAA Division II Point Loma Nazarene.
