Sixth-ranked women's tennis takes two on first weekend
MESA, AZ - Beginning the Spring season ranked No. 6 in the nation, the Mesa women's tennis team picked up a pair of impressive wins on its first weekend of play.
MCC downed NCAA Division II Western New Mexico, 6-3, and topped Imperial Valley (Calif.), 9-0.
In the WNMU match the T-Birds won three of the singles contests, with no match being played at No. 6.
Emily Chang won at No. 2, 6-2, 5-7, 6-0. Yolanda Carlon captured No. 2 singles, 6-7, 6-0, 6-3 and Hannah Neson won at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2.
In blanking Imperial Valley, MCC surrendered just one game in the entire match.
The T-Birds will host Hastings on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 4:00 p.m.
