Mesa Tennis Sweep Through the Weekend

MESA, AZ – The Mesa tennis teams continued their outstanding run at the beginning of the season with a sweep of three matches each over the weekend.  

The sixth-ranked women lost just one total set while beating ACCAC rival Paradise Valley, 9-0; four-year NAIA member Hope International, 9-0, and NCAA Division II Colorado Mesa, 8-1.  

The T-Birds are now 7-0 and have lost a total of only four sets out of 64 played.  

The fifth-ranked men topped PVCC 9-0, Hope International, 8-1 and Colorado Mesa, 9-0.  

Max Wightman, ranked No. 30 in the nation and playing at No. 3 singles won two of his matches 6-0, 6-0 and the other easily as well. The T-Birds are now 4-1.  

MCC plays conference rival Pima Tuesday. The men play at home at 1:30 p.m. and the women in Tucson at the same time.
