NCAA Division II SW Minnesota State is lastest women's tennis victim, 5-4

  MESA, AZ - Fresh from a victory over ninth-ranked Eastern Arizona, the Mesa women's tennis team knocked off NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State Monday, 5-4.

  The T-Birds won with strength in the lower half of the lineup, and by taking all three doubles matches.

  MCC got wins from Desiree Curiel (So. Globe-Miami, AZ/Miami H.S.) at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mariya Krumm and Sydney Madsen (So., Orem, Utah/Perry H.S.) who scored a victory over Nicole McQueen, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.

  Those two also won their doubles matches. Curiel teamed with Michelle Fournier (Fr., Chicago, Ill/Saguaro (AZ) H.S.) to win at No. 2, 8-2 over Krumm and Crystal Overbaugh. Madsen paired with Sheridan Skarda (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain H.S.) to win at No. 3, 8-3, over McQueen and Ashley Hoehne.

  Mesa now breaks until March 17 when it will meet Cerritos (Calif) in Los Angeles.
