Five players score as women's soccer routs Glendale, 5-1

PEORIA, AZ - Five different players scored goals for the Mesa women's soccer team as the T-Birds esaily handled Glendale, 5-1, Thursday at Pioneer Park.

The win was a little measure of revenge for MCC which was tied by the Gauchos in a game earlier in the season.

With the win, Mesa keeps its Region I playoff hopes alive, slipping back into sixth place in the ACCAC with a 7-5-5 record. Pheonix is seventh at 8-6-4. Mesa has a tough date looming Saturday at second place Chnadler-Gilbert, a team MCC stunned, 2-0, earlier in the year.

Thursday MCC grabbed a 2-0 halftime lead. Amanda Bloomfield (So., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) started things with her first goal of the year, coming in the 37the minute. Barely two-and-a-half minutes later Mackenzie Mabery (So., Cottonwood, AZ/Mingus Union H.S.) made it 2-0 with her fifth of the season off an assist by Bloomfield.

Jessica Lynn (So. Queen Creek, AZ/Queen Creek H.S.) connected on her second of the season in the 60th minute with Tawsi Rohner (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) getting an assist.

Ana Morris (So., Mesa, AZ/Desert Ridge H.S.) made it 4-0 in the 79th minute with help from Bailey Skipper (Fr., Prescott, AZ/Higley H.S.). It was Morris' fourth of the year.

Victoria McClelland (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo/Gilbert H.S.) closed the scoring in the 87th minute on an asssist from Savannah Vossler (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert H.S.).
