PHOENIX, AZ - Ana Morris, pictured right, (So., Mesa, AZ/Desert Ridge H.S.) scored two goals to help lift the Mesa women's soccer team to a 3-0 season-opening win at South Mountain Saturday.
Morris scored in the 65th minute on an assist from Monique Moore (So., Chandler, AZ/Hamilton H.S.) and then added another just 11 seconds later, also with help from Moore.
Mackenzie Mabery (So., Cottonwood, AZ/Mingus Union H.S.) added another in the final minute to ensure the MCC win.
Danielle Torres (So., Yuma, AZ/Kofa H.S.) picked up the shutout in goal with four saves.
MCC out-shot the Cougars, 22-9.
Mesa opens in home season Thursday with an 8:00 p.m. contest with Arizona Western.
