Women 2nd, men 9th after day one of Redhawk Rumble

 Mesa, AZ – The Mesa women's golf team stood in second place and the men were ninth after the first day of the mostly four-year school Redhawk Rumble at the Las Sendas G.C. Monday.

MCC's women shot a 330 and trailed Embry-Riddle (AZ) by 13 strokes. Abby Schmidt was tied for third place individually after carding a 79, one stroke off the lead of two Embry-Riddle players. There are 28 players competing. Viviana Holguin was sixth, two shots further back at 81 and Presley Pickron was tied for seventh, with an 82.

  The T-Bird men shot a 301 to trail Rocky Mountain College by 19. Mesa was led by Jake Walden with a one-over-par 72 and was tied for 11th place in the 64-player field. Dawson Moon was tied for 17th at 73 and Ray Ramirez was tied for 27th after shooting a 75.

  The tournament concludes Tuesday.
