Vakasioula captures 11th straight as women's golf wins again
It was a lot closer than usual, but Mesa's Alyzzah Vakasioula managed to win her 11th consecutive regular season tournament, leading MCC to the win at the Pima Invitational Tuesday.
Vakasioula carded a 70-77—147 to edge Pima's Maria Harrouch by a single shot. Vakasioula's total was one over par.
As a team, the T-Birds fired a 313-320—633 to defeat the hosts who came in at 332-350—682.
Mesa had a solid overall team result, taking four of the top eight places individually. Viviana Holquin posted an 82-77—159 to capture fourth place, one position ahead of teammate Abby Schmidt who had a 78-83—161. Jolie Guyette had an 83-83—166 good enough for a tie for seventh place.
The T-Birds' next outing will be at the Estrella Mountain Invitational, March 13-14.
