Fusak's medal honors lead women's golf to 80th straight conference win

  Oro Valley, AZ – The Mesa women's golf team won its 80th consecutive ACCAC tournament Tuesday, although it had one of its closest battles to do it. MCC has not lost a conference tournament since 2006.

  The T-Birds scored a 12-shot victory over Chandler-Gilbert, 681-693, after having taken a 29-stroke lead after day one. Pima finished third at the Views Golf Club at Oro Valley with a 785 total.

  Mesa's Megan Fusak won medal honors with an 80-77—157 total to win by six shots. It was her second collegiate tournament victory.

  Haley Kapanicas, who shared the first-round lead with Fusak, was fourth, carding an 80-90—170. Taylor Gransen tied for sixth place with an 82-94—176 and Hannah Brown closed in tenth place after an 87-93—190.

  Mesa goes back into action Monday and Tuesday, April 2-3, at the Paradise Valley Invitational at the Wildfire G.C. Faldo Course.
