Pack of four from Mesa leads women's golf to 36-shot lead on day one of South Mountain Invitational

Tournament results

  Phoenix, AZ – Placing four players among the top six on day one of the South Mountain Invitational, the Mesa women's golf team surged to a 36-shot lead at the Foothills G.C. Tuesday.

  MCC recorded a team total of 328 to easily out-distance Chandler-Gilbert at 364. Pima was in third place, carding a 365, followed by Paradise Valley at 402 and South Mountain with a 442.

   Haley Kapanicas paced the T-Birds with an 80 for third place. Megan Fusak was fourth, shooting an 82 and Cheyanne Stewart and Madison Tjaden tied for fifth with 83s.

  The tournament will finish Wednesday.
