Mesa Women's Golf Win Tenth Straight Region Championship

TUCSON, AZ – The Mesa women's golf team completed its tenth consecutive unbeaten conference season by winning the Pima Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the Silverbell G.C. MCC captured the Region I championship for the tenth straight year and 15th in the last 16 seasons.  

The T-Birds won their 69th ACCAC tournament in a row with a 26-shot win over host Pima. MCC opened up a 20-shot lead on day one with a 308 total and finished with a 305 for a 613 total. Pima recorded a 328-311--639 while South Mountain was third at 339-345—684.  

Mesa had three of the top four individual finishers. Brianna Medrano (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) was second carding a 75-75—150. Jill Harvison (So., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) and Savannah Cooper (Fr., Sedona, AZ/Red Rock H.S.) tied for third. Harvison recorded a 75-76—151 and Cooper a 76-75—151.  

The T-Birds will play in the NJCAA Division I National Championship May 14-19 at the Daytona Beach LPGA International Golf Course.
