Women's golf third after NJCAA first round

  MESA, AZ - The third-ranked Mesa women's golf team stood in third place after the first round of the NJCAA Women's Golf National Championship Monday.

  After the first day of play at the Longbow G.C., Seminole State (Fla.) led the way with a 303 total, followed by Daytona State (Fla.) at 304. Mesa had a 313 total and led Redlands (Okla.) which posted a 319.

  Charatta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) is third individually with a 74. Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) fired a 79 and Jacquelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S.) and Brianna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) each had 80s. Sierra Myerscough (So., Champaign, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) came in at 83.

  Mesa will be among the last groups to tee off Tuesday.
