Huge final round leads to women's golf win at South Mountain Invitational

  PHOENIX, AZ - Bettering its best round in the last three years by 11 shots, the Mesa women's golf team concluded its regular season by shooting a 288 at the Legacy Golf Resort for a 66-shot win at the South Mountain Invitational.

  Mesa fired a 300-288--588 to easily out-distance South Mountain which finished at 325-329--654.

  The victory completed yet another unbeaten regular season in two-year competition with six tournament wins. 

  The T-Birds had the top three individuals, led by Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) who won medal honors with a 71-74--145.

  One shot back was Sierra Myerscough (So., Champiagn, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) at 74-72--146. Charatta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) was third with a 78-70--148.

  Mesa will now advance to the NJCAA Division I National Championship which it will host May 12-15 at the Longbow G.C. in Mesa.
