Sixth tournament win for women's golf, take Estrella Mountain Inv. by 47 shots

  LAVEEN, AZ - With Jacquelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S.) leading the way, the Mesa women's golf team captured its sixth consecutive tournament championship of the year, taking the Estrella Mountain Invitational by 47 shots over South Mountain.

  Mesa carded a steady 308-307--615 to easily out-distance SMCC which finished at 330-332-662. The tournament took place at the Aquila G.C.

  Porman took second place individually at 75-76--151. MCC had all of the second through sixth places. Charatta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) and Sierra Myerscough (So, Champaign, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) tied for third. Thongbai recorded a 78-76--154 and Myerscough a 79-75--154.

  Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) placed fifth, recording a 77-80--157 and Breanna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) was sixth at 78-80--158.

  The T-Birds now take a break until April 6 when they will play in the Chandler-Gilbert Inv. at the Toka Sticks G.C. in Mesa.
