Best round of the year leads women's golf to win at Scottsdale Invitational

  SUN CITY, AZ - Shooting its low team round of the year, a 299, the Mesa women's golf team claimed the title at the Scottsdale Invitational by a 56-shot margin over South Mountain Monday.

  The tournament was held at the Hillcrest G.C.

  The T-Birds posted a 317-299--616 to claim their fifth tournament title of the year.

  Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) maintained her individual lead from the first day with an even-par 72 Monday and won medal honors with a 76-72--148. 

  She led the Mesa group which posted five of the top seven individual scores.

  Charatta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) was siecond with a 78-76--154 and Sierra Myerscough (So., Champaign, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) finished third at 80-75--155.

  In addition, Jacquelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S,) placed fifth, recording an 83-76--159 and Brianna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) was seventh at 83-82--165.

  The T-Birds go right back into action Tuesday at the Estrella Mountain Invitational at the Aguila G.C., in Laveen, AZ.
