Women's golf off to 13-shot lead on first day of Scottsdale Invitational
SUN CITY, AZ - Back in action for the first time in ten days, the Mesa women's golf team grabbed a 13-shot lead on the first day of play at the Scottsdale Invitational. The event is being held at the Hillcrest G.C.
The T-Birds shot a 317. South Mountain was second at 330 and Chandler-Gilbert third with a 368 total.
Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) was MCC's leader with a 76 which gave her the tournament lead by two shots.
Charatta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) was tied for second, two shots back with a 78 and two ahead of Sierra Myerscough (So., Champaign, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) who stood in fifth place with an 80.
Brianna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) and Jacquelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S.) were tied for 11th place with 83s.
The tournament wraps up Monday.
