Women's golf places 18th at Red Rocks Invitational among mostly NCAA DI schools
SEDONA, AZ - Playing in a tournament composed mainly of NCAA Division I schools, the Mesa women's golf team placed 18th among 20 schools at the Red Rocks Invitational which concluded Saturday at the Oak Creek C.C.
MCC shot a 330-313-643 on day two to lead Northern Kentucky at 661 and North Dakota which shot 675.
Saturday's 313 for the T-Birds was also better than New Mexico State's 316 and equaled the score of Seattle.
Northern Arizona won the tournament with a 300-297--597.
Charatta Thongbai (So, Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) shot a steady 79-79--158 to tied for 67th place among the 131 players.
Jacquelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S,) was one shot back with an 81-78--159.
Others for MCC were Sierra Myerscough (So., Champaign, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) 84-79--163; Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) with an 88-77--165 and Brianna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) with an 86-86--172. Harvison's 77 was the low round of the event for Mesa.
MCC will host the Lady Thunderbird Classic next Wednesday and Thursday at the Dobson Ranch G.C.
