Women's golf takes first round lead at Pima Invitational

  TUCSON, AZ - The Mesa women's golf team grabbed the first round lead at the Pima Invitational by firing a 308 at the Silverbell G.C. Sunday.

  Mesa had a 23-shot lead over second place South Mountain and a 41-shot margin over host Pima which was third.

  Charatta Thongbai (So. Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) held the individual lead with a 75 as all five MCC players were among the top eight.

  Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, Mountain View H.S.) was tied for second place at 77.

  Sierra Myerscough (So., Champaign, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) and Brianna Medrando (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) tied for fourth at 78 and Jacqelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S.) was in a tie for seventh with a 79.

  The tournament concludes Monday.
