Women's golf posts 42-shot win in season opener at Paradise Valley Inv.

  GLENDALE, AZ - Mesa's powerful women's golf team kicked off its 2015 season by taking a 42-shot victory at the Paradise Valley Invitational Tuesday.

  The event was played at the Legend of Arrowhead G.C.

  MCC finished with a 314-317-631 to easily out-distance South Mountain at 336-337--673.

  Charatta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) was medalist, carding a 73-79--152 to win by four shots.

  Sierra Myerscogh (So., Champaign, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) surged into second place with a 77-79--156 while Brianna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) placed fourth at 82-78--160.

  The T-Birds took five of the top seven spots with Jacuelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S,) placing sixth with an 84-81--165 and Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) was seventh recording an 82-86--168.

  MCC goes back into action Sunday and Monday, Feb. 22-23, at the Pima Invitational at the Silverbell G.C. in Tucson.
