Women's golf holds 22 shot lead after Paradise Valley day 1

  GLENDALE, AZ - The Mesa women's golf team is kicking off its spring season by taking a 22-shot lead after the first day of play at the Paradise Valley Invitational.

  The T-Birds fired a 314 over the Legend at Arrowhead G.C., 22 shots clear of South Mountain at 336.

  Charatta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) is leading the field by four shots after covering the par 72 course in one-over 73.

  Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) and Brianna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) are both tied for fifth place with 82s.

  The tournament concludes Tuesday.
