Thatcher, AZ - The #16 Mesa Thunderbirds women's basketball team defeated the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters on the road Wednesday night, 67-60.
Leading the charge as she has done all season was freshman Zyan Smith, who scored 21 points and had 15 rebounds while dishing out four assists.
Along with Smith, Mesa's starting five all shouldered the load tonight as they contributed 51 of Mesa's 67 points tonight, with Jacey Salabiye scoring 13, Jayla Johnson scoring 11 and Rylee Young scoring six.
With the win, the T-Birds move to 10-5 on the season and 7-1 overall in the ACCAC. Mesa will again be on the road this coming Saturday when they travel to Scottsdale for a 6 pm start time.
