Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds women's basketball team lost Wednesday night to the visiting Cochise Apaches, 66-49, at Theo Heap Gym.
The Thunderbird game plan was to force the Apaches to live or die by the three and unfortunatly for the T-Birds, Cochise connected on nine three-pointers on the night. Mesa on the other hand did not shot well from the field, going 17-58 (29.3%) while shooting 10-18 (55.6%) from the free-throw line.
Mesa battled tough with the much taller Apache squad but in the end, Cochise took advantage of the zone defense Mesa presented.
The T-Birds drop to 4-8 on the season, 3-3 in conference play. Mesa will play again this Friday night at 6 pm, hosting the Snow Badgers.
